In the heart of Colmar’s historic city centre, the newly inaugurated Alsace Wine Museum invites you to dive into the world of the region’s wines. With historical discoveries and immersive experiences, it’s the perfect place for a fun outing with colleagues.
In the middle of the old town on Place de la Cathédrale, the Alsace Wine Museum is a testament to Colmar’s art de vivre, giving visitors a hands-on experience. Enjoy tastings (in moderation), discover the hidden aromas of wine or grape juice, and have virtual encounters with Alsatian artisans, winegrowers, coopers, sommeliers, chefs, and more. The Alsace Wine Museum will also take you on an immersive journey along the Alsace Wine Route, inaugurated in 1953.
Colmar, the capital of Alsace wine
It’s no coincidence that Colmar was chosen as the location for the museum. On a visit with colleagues after a seminar day, you’ll learn all about the close relationship between the wine industry and the city, known as the capital of Alsace wines since 1999.
Every year, the town holds the region’s flagship summer wine event, the Colmar Wine Fair, that began in 1948 as an effort to save the wine industry after World War II.
A rarity in a city today, Colmar still has two wineries: Martin Jund and Karcher, always ready to invite you into their welcoming cellars for a tasting. These estates are living testaments to the art de vivre of Alsace’s Little Venice, just a stone’s throw from the magnificent, must-see vineyards.
